Alligator arms
Today in zoomorphic fun: my wife introduced me to the phrase "alligator arms." She got it from work.
Alligator arms is a phrase used to describe:
- In sports, a catcher who won't reach for the ball (presumably he has stumpy little arms)
- In daily life, someone who is miserly (can't reach his wallet)
I have to assume this phrase is in use only in Florida (or other areas where alligators lurk -- Louisiana?). A delightful folkism, isn't it?
